network transmission media

transmission media is a interconnecting device which is used to carry the communication signal from one system to another system.
this transmission media is two types.

1.guided
2.unguided

the below tree explains about the classification of transmission media.

by this tree you can understand the classification.

here is the explanation of each media.

1) guided transmission media(wired):

Guided Transmission media or guided media in networking uses a cabling system that guides the data signals along a specific path. The data signals are bound by the “Cabling” system. Guided Media is also known as Bound media.

in the guided media systems are connected by the the cables that cables would be co-axial cable or twisted pair cable or fiber optics.it would be any one.

the explanation of each guided media is below.

co-axial cables:

co-axial cable is the basic media which is basically using in television cable.it consists of an inner conductor wire surrounded by insulation, called the dielectric.as shown in figure

The dielectric is surrounded by a conductive shield, which is surrounded by a non-conductive jacket. Coaxial cable has better data transmission rate than twisted pair.

some important point on the co-axial cable:
  1. transmission can b done over inner conductor in electrical form.
  2. higher noise immunity than twisted pair cable.
  3. less effective to the external magnetic.
  4. installation will be easy.
  5. it has high bandwidth.
  6. mostly used in TV cabling and computer networks.

twisted pair cable:

this twisted pair cable is a type of cable that consists of two independently insulated wires twisted around one another. One wire carries the signal while the other wire is grounded and absorbs signal interference. Twisted-pair cable is used by older telephone networks and is the least expensive type of local-area network (LAN) cable. Other types of cables used for LANs include coaxial cables and fiber optic cables.
the twisted cable connects by the RJ-45 connector to the computers LAN or telephone. this cable will be fixed by the crimper. by the help of the crimper we can we can connect the cable in to the RJ-45 connector.

this twisted pairs are classified into
1. UTP(unshielded twisted pair)
2.STP(shielded twisted pair)

you must learn about this. here you can find link to  download the ppt of co-axial cableco-axial cable ppt
